I know that college is not highlighted on this blog, but I figured I would add this as it is driving me insane. How in the world is Montee Ball from Wisconsin not being mentioned for the Heisman at all? Russell Wilson, who is the Wisconsin quarterback was in the lead earlier in the season on some people's ballots including Lou Holtz, when they were undefeated. Somehow, the running back who is second in the country in rushing behind some guy from Western Kentucky, which shouldn't really count, and has 34 touchdowns so far. That was not a typo, he is 5 behind Barry Sander's record and should beat it with a division championship game against Michigan State, who ruined their title hopes and my gambling pick that week with a Hail Mary, and a bowl game.
Mr. Ball has barely been mentioned despite this and they are not even sure if he will be invited to New York for the ceremony. What is going on here? He plays at Wisconsin in the Big Ten, where the defenses are designed to stop the run. Yet, this guy will end the season with close to 2,000 rushing yards if not over, and probably at least 40 touchdowns. I love Trent Richardson and think he should be up there as well and much like Mark Ingram winning it over Toby Gerehart, which I also thought was wrong just look at the numbers and what Stanford did that year, I could live with that to some degree. The problem here is that Montee Ball is barely being mentioned and Toby played in the Pac-10, not known for good run defense as most offenses are spread oriented. At any rate, can somebody explain this farce to me as I just don't get it. There should be some kind of national campaign like the politicians have where at the end Montee Ball states and I approve this message!
A blog about everything football. Whether it is the week's matchups, fantasy football, gambling predictions or the draft. We will try to give you an objective opinion that does not follow the herd mentality.

Draft Prediction I Hope I am Wrong About
![]() |
2009 Heisman winner Mark Ingram Jr. with Greg McElroy(#12) |
Now the emotional side of me is pulling for Ingram, as he seems to be a class act and very humble for that matter. His dad has been in jail for the past couple of years and Ingram never shies away from that fact. He was very emotional when he won the Heisman trophy and it struck me as a guy who I didn't feel deserved it from a football standpoint, he deserved it as a human being. So depending on how fast he runs his forty this weekend, Ingram could be looking at a first round draft status. A part of me thinks that is ludicrous, but a big part of me hopes for the best for this kid, who unlike many of these college divas is a class act and deserves good things to happen.
