There is no Blueprint to Beat the Packers

People need to relax with the idea that the Chiefs created a blueprint to beat the Packers.  First off, the Chiefs are an NFL team, which means that they can beat anybody. At times they show they can play some great defense and they are very tough to play in Kansas City.  Most players will say how tough it is to play there when the fans are rocking.  The Packers have a great offense and have the potential to play great defense, but it does not mean they are unbeatable.  Eventually, everybody falls off the bus because it is too difficult to stay healthy and beat a team of paid NFL players.  If you are on a roster, you are a very talented individual regardless of what we think watching from our couches.

Rodgers missed his buddy last week!
I should get to the main point, which a lot of people do not realize.  Greg Jennings was hurt for this game.  People are undervaluing this injury because we live in a fantasy football world where we see Jordy Nelson throw up gaudy numbers, James Jones, Donald Driver all get into the act as well. We figure they have enough receivers they can easily fill in.  Earlier this year I mentioned that Jordy Nelson was the better fantasy option from that point.  I also stated that it does not mean that he is better than Greg Jennings.  Last weekend clearly illustrates my point.  A big reason the Packer offense did not look like it usually does is the fact that defenses usually roll coverage to Greg Jennings side, meaning he gets a lot of double coverage to him.  This makes Jordy Nelson a great option as he will usually have the number 2 cornerback going one on one with him.  Without Jennings on the field, defenses now have an extra guy on defense more or less to cover good receivers but not great.  The Chiefs defense has some good players including Brandon Flowers, who is a top 5 cornerback in my book.  He was a good reason the Packer receivers including Nelson, did not do much last week.  It did not help that the Packer's line is becoming rapidly decimated very quickly.

At any rate, that loss does not make them a team that has a blueprint to beat them.  It shows that every team is beatable.  That being said, I have been making the case privately to friends that Drew Brees and the Saints are quietly becoming the best team and player in the league without much fanfare until this Packer loss.  Now it is being talked about a little more.  It seems that the Saints should hope that Jennings does not come back any time soon, because they will have to beat Green Bay in Green Bay, which I don't think would happen against a healthy Packer team.  The Saints are terrible on the road.
